Motif Murals creates large-scale murals and visual installations on acoustic walls, highway barriers, buildings, tunnels, car parks, commercial walls and public infrastructure. We combine professional mural design, specialist spray-painting systems and robotic mural technology to transform large blank surfaces into enduring landmarks.

How does robotic mural painting work?
Our robotic mural system is fixed to the wall and uses precision-controlled spray-painting technology to reproduce approved artwork at large scale. The system moves systematically across the surface, allowing complex designs to be painted accurately, efficiently and consistently across very large areas.

Is this replacing artists?
No. The artist remains central to the process. The robot is a delivery tool, not the creative mind. Artists, designers, Traditional Owners, councils and clients can all be part of the creative development process. The technology allows approved artwork to be scaled onto major infrastructure with speed, accuracy and consistency.

What types of walls can you paint?
We can work on concrete acoustic walls, rendered walls, precast panels, commercial buildings, warehouses, car parks, tunnels, retaining walls and other large vertical surfaces. Each site is assessed for wall condition, access, height, safety, surface preparation and environmental exposure before work begins.

How large can a mural be?
Motif Murals specialises in large-format work. Projects can range from a single feature wall through to hundreds or thousands of square metres across highways, infrastructure corridors and major developments. A 400-metre acoustic wall, for example, can become a continuous visual story rather than a plain barrier.

How long does it take?
Timing depends on wall size, surface condition, access, design complexity and weather. Robotic mural technology can dramatically improve production speed compared with traditional hand-painting methods, especially across large repetitive wall sections. Once artwork, permits and site access are approved, installation can be planned efficiently and delivered in stages.

Is the mural durable outdoors?
Yes. Projects are designed for outdoor conditions using suitable exterior-grade paints, surface preparation and optional protective coatings. For exposed infrastructure, we can also discuss anti-graffiti coatings, UV protection and maintenance plans to help extend the life of the artwork.

How do you approach Aboriginal or culturally sensitive artwork?
Motif Murals believes cultural artwork must be created respectfully and with proper permission. Where Aboriginal themes, stories or visual language are involved, we seek to collaborate with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal artists and relevant cultural representatives. We do not copy sacred symbols, stories or styles without consent. The goal is to create work that honours place, identity and Country.

Why use Motif Murals instead of traditional signage or vinyl?
Murals create a stronger sense of place. Unlike signage or vinyl, a large-scale painted installation can become part of the built environment, improve the visual experience of a road or development, deter graffiti, support local identity and turn blank infrastructure into something memorable.

Can the artwork include branding?
Yes, but it should be handled tastefully. We can integrate brand identity, development themes, community messages or destination storytelling into a mural without making the wall feel like a billboard. The best outcomes balance commercial purpose with public value.

What is the process from idea to completion?
The process usually includes site review, creative brief, concept design, stakeholder approval, surface and access assessment, final artwork preparation, production planning, mural installation and optional protective coating. For government or infrastructure projects, we can also support presentations, visual mockups and staged delivery planning.
