As cities grow, infrastructure expands and buildings rise, more of our everyday landscape is shaped by blank walls, concrete barriers, commercial façades and large surfaces that are too often left without identity, story or visual purpose. Motif exists to change that.
What Motif Does
We deliver large-format painted installations for public, commercial and infrastructure environments — transforming walls, buildings and blank surfaces into enduring landmarks of identity, story and place. Founded in Australia by Chris Humphrey, Motif brings together outdoor media experience, strategic marketing thinking, artwork development, specialised equipment and robotic painting technology to create a new model for large-scale visual transformation.
How We Work
Our work sits at the intersection of public art, infrastructure, commercial placemaking and large-format painted delivery. Some projects are client-led. Some are artist-led. Others bring governments, developers, communities and artists together around a shared story.

Whether we are executing a developer’s visual concept, supporting a cultural public artwork, or transforming a long acoustic wall into a landmark, our role is to make ambitious large-format work practical, efficient and professionally delivered at scale.
What Holds Every Mural Together
For me, this business is about making large-scale artwork possible without compromising the idea. The technology gives us speed, precision and scale, but the job is still to stay true to the artist’s design and deliver it properly. At a certain size, doing it any other way becomes slow, expensive or almost impossible.
