THE TECHNOLOGY
Meet Albert.
Large-scale mural production, re-engineered.
Albert is a purpose-built robotic mural printing system designed to produce extraordinary large-scale artwork with exceptional speed, precision and consistency.
Unlike conventional vertical wall printers, Albert moves horizontally across the wall, allowing continuous artwork to be delivered over large surfaces and long distances without compromising the integrity of the original design.
Every Motif mural begins with artwork created by an artist. Albert does not replace that creativity—he gives it the ability to reach an entirely new scale.

Created by artists. Engineered for scale.
Albert faithfully interprets approved artwork through a distinctive five-colour dot-based printing process, creating murals that retain the character of the original design while gaining a unique texture and visual identity of their own.
Horizontal Movement
Albert moves laterally along the wall rather than printing in narrow vertical sections. This makes it possible to deliver continuous large-scale artwork across expansive walls and long infrastructure surfaces.
Precision at Scale
The approved artwork is translated into a highly controlled printing process that maintains proportion, detail and consistency across even the largest mural surfaces.
Artist First
The artist remains at the centre of every project. Albert is the production tool that allows the approved design to be reproduced efficiently while remaining faithful to the artist’s original intent.
THE ART
From a distance, an image. Up close, thousands of individual dots.
Albert creates murals through a carefully controlled pattern of five different colours. Viewed from a distance, the dots visually combine to form the completed artwork. Viewed up close, the individual marks remain visible, giving each mural a distinctive texture and character.
The result is not intended to imitate a conventional digital print. It is a unique mural surface—faithful to the approved artwork, yet shaped by the method used to produce it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What clients usually want to know.
Clear answers to the most common questions about large-scale robotic mural projects.
How much does a large-scale mural cost?
Project pricing depends on the wall size, artwork, access, surface condition, location and any site-specific preparation required. Motif can provide an initial estimate before preparing a detailed project proposal.
What types of walls can you paint?
Robotic mural technology can work across a wide range of suitable vertical surfaces. The wall condition, texture, access and surrounding environment are assessed before the project is confirmed.
How long does a mural project take?
Production time depends on the size and complexity of the artwork, the wall and the site conditions. Robotic production can complete large surfaces significantly faster than many traditional mural methods.
Can we supply our own artwork?
Yes. We can work with approved artwork supplied by your organisation, designer or chosen artist. The artwork is then prepared for the wall, scale, viewing conditions and production process.
Do you work with local artists?
Yes. Motif can collaborate with local artists, Indigenous artists, designers and community stakeholders while using robotic technology to deliver the approved artwork at scale.
How durable are the murals?
Durability depends on the wall, paint system, exposure and environmental conditions. Protective coatings may also be considered where additional protection or easier cleaning is required.
Does every wall need preparation or undercoating?
No. Preparation requirements are assessed project by project. Some walls may require cleaning, repairs, priming or a base coat, while others may be suitable with minimal preparation.
Can anti-graffiti protection be applied?
Yes. Anti-graffiti or protective coatings can be considered where appropriate, particularly for accessible public walls or locations with higher maintenance requirements.
How does robotic mural painting compare with hand-painted murals?
Both approaches begin with strong artwork and have their place. Robotic production is particularly well suited to projects where speed, scale, consistency and faithful reproduction of an approved design are important. Hand-painted murals may be better suited to smaller projects or artwork that relies on the artist’s direct brushwork and on-wall interpretation.
Are there any limits to the size or scale of a mural?
Robotic mural technology has been used across towering building façades as well as long stretches of concrete infrastructure. Both portrait and landscape formats can be accommodated. With indicative production capability of around 200 square metres per day, very large mural applications can be delivered in remarkably efficient timeframes. Actual production rates depend on the artwork, wall, access and site conditions.
